A securities transfer occurs when there is a change in ownership of shares, warrants, bonds, debentures, or other securities that is recorded on the register of security holders kept by or, on behalf of the company issuing the security. Most issuing companies use transfer agents to keep the registers of securities holders.

To initiate a transfer of securities, the owner, their authorized representative, or an agent (such as a lawyer or broker) must submit the securities along with specific legal documents to the transfer agent. We recognize that the securities transfer process can be complex. To assist you, our website offers detailed information and guidance on the necessary steps for transferring securities.

Please note that the required legal documents may vary depending on the parties involved in the transfer, whether it is the owner themselves or a representative acting on their behalf (e.g., under a will).

TOur website provides information about four types of transfers under Canadian law:

  • Basic transfers — Transfers of securities from one or more individuals to one or more other individuals or entities.
  • Estate transfers — Transfers of securities belonging to a person who is deceased.
  • Corporate transfers — Transfers of securities held in the name of a corporation.
  • Trust transfers — Transfers of securities held in the name of trustees.

A bond is required by financial institutions in lieu of probating an estate. In the event where a will is not probated, this fee is transferred directly to the insurance provider on your behalf. The waiver or probate bond is a standard fee that applies to all similar cases and protects / indemnifies the transfer agent in the event that a legitimate claimant comes forth to make a claim against the securities owned by the deceased.

To transfer your shares to another individual, please visit the “Forms” section of our website and complete the Securities Transfer form. If you require further assistance, do not hesitate to contact our customer service center.

You can receive your dividend payment through various options including a cheque, direct deposit or through a Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRIP).

If you would like to have your dividend payments directly deposited into your bank account, please visit the “Forms” section of our website to complete the direct deposit enrollment form.

Requests for dividend payments in a different currency cannot be accommodated, as the payment currency is automatically determined based on your registered address.

If you have not received your disbursement cheque, dividend reinvestment statement, tax slip, or other correspondence, you can obtain a replacement. Please email TSX Trust with the specific details, and we will investigate and resend if necessary.

If you hold securities in multiple accounts with different holdings, you have the option to consolidate them into a single account. To proceed, please email TSX Trust with your request, including the relevant account details and your preferred method for combining the accounts.

Accounts can only be consolidated if they are registered to the same shareholder. Unfortunately, it is not possible to combine accounts held by different shareholders.

If you wish to update the address currently listed on your profile, you can easily submit your new address online. Please use the "Change My Address" link located under the "Forms" tab.

If you have recently changed your name and wish to update your registration on your securities, please provide a government-issued name change certificate along with a letter of direction outlining the changes to be made. A Notarial or Certified true copy of the documents is recommended.

Note: You should indicate, if applicable, whether you are a participant in the company's Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRIP), no additional document is required as a plan to plan transfer will occur.

If you have securities registered in a certificate form, your documents must be accompanied by your original share certificates.

If you need to replace a certificate, please visit the Forms section of our website to complete either the Affidavit of Loss or the Statement of Loss document. Please note that replacing a lost certificate can take up to 7-10 business days.
